I built EZGate to run a fleet of gate relays on the Heltec Wireless Stick V3. Each board pulses a relay module into a gate controller. Wi‑Fi is the path to the portal. If that path has no internet, the board joins a LoRa tree and uses another Wireless Stick on the same site as a gateway.
The radio is the onboard SX1262 at 915 MHz, SF7, 125 kHz. Traffic is a hop-to-gateway tree, so a board only relays for children that selected it. A new board starts its own setup access point ( EZGate- plus the last four characters of its id) until it is assigned to a site. Firmware updates go over the air into the second app slot and roll back if the new image does not stay up.
The repository is GPL-3.0 and includes both the PlatformIO firmware and the operator portal:
The firmware notes cover the pinout, the LoRa parent selection, and the OTA chunking. The 915 MHz setting is in the firmware config if you need a different band.
