[SOLVED] HTCC-AB02-S Battery + USB -> Smoke

I received a HTCC-AB02-S (branded “Seamuing”) and a LiPo battery (LP402535, 3.7V) today. Powering with USB wasn’t a problem, but powering with only the battery did not power up the board.

My initial thought was that the battery might be empty, and as I have read there is a charge controller integrated, I attached it to USB while the battery was connected (I dont recall in which order I connected the two).

Immediately some smoke developed and a smell of burnt electronics was around.

I checked the manual and there I came across the sentence:
“Except when USB or 5V Pin is connected separately, lithium battery can be connected to charge it. In other cases, only a single power supply can be connected.”

I do not get it, what does it mean?
Did I receive a faulty board or did I do something wrong?

Best, Robert

Ok, my fault, I seem to have purchased a battery with a JST 1.25 connector with opposite/wrong polarity :confused:
