Powering Heltec ESP32 using 5V pin

Hello,

I am trying to power the Heltec Stick Lite with the 5V pin, instead of the micro-usb port. Will this be possible? Will the circuit have any built in protection from the 5V power supply?

So it seems like this module can clearly be powered by the 5V pin. My LED light however is not indicating that the device has power. I have verified that 5V pin has approximately 5V and Gnd pin is connected.

Strangely though if I take my multimeter probe and touch the ground pin where indicated in the image (GND pin to ESP chip). The LED turns on. Why could this be?
