I would need actual meshtastic alphas. How can i upgrade? Do I loose any MeshPocket functions?
MeshPocket Meshtastic Updates
If you need the alphas then presumable you are looking to use the bleeding edge code which implies some levels of ability with Git, VSCode and PlatformIO. Which means you can just use the official repro as it is all there!
Or you could use the Web Flasher which provides the alphas …
Hi nmcc,
yes I would prefer to use the webflasher. But on flasher.meshtastic.org is no device called Meshpocket listed. So please tell me, How to update the Meshpocket device without bricking it?
How long have you got - @bns told me yesterday he estimates the time from zero to hero to be about two or three years.
Either compile and flash - which if you follow the instructions works fine - or wait for Meshtastic to update their web flasher.
If the first option isn’t one you can go with, why go with an Alpha version?
Sorry, your (heltecs) support is really bad. You shouldn’t answer with single sentences without a link or document to a solution. You didn’t help me.
So heltec sells devices, for which updates will be available in 2 or 3 years!
I’m a volunteer taking time out of my working day to answer your questions.
I find links the same way everyone else should - from the product page and via Google. I can give you the secret sauce info & some pointers based on a couple of decades of embedded experience but I can’t spend time finding & copying links.
You are totally guessing when a third party, who no one has control over, will update their third party website. Perhaps raise this with them?
The compile & flash instructions in the official MT repro worked on my MeshPocket, released before shipping, so updates became available minus ~30 days ago.
The Meshtastic official still on the process to integrate newest MeshPocket firmware into their web flasher.
BTW. MeshPocket is based on the nRF52840 chip, and manual upgrades are also very simple. Double-click the RST button to enter the Bootloader mode, and MeshPocket will simulate a USB device on the computer. Copy the .uf2 firmware to this USB device to complete the upgrade.
Hope this document can make sense to you:

Do I choose inkhub version or not? what is the difference?
Ok, i found it:
Thank you very much!
is there a way to have the firmware that is provided with the board to return to its shipping state after i test a custom firmware to validate the board works with it?
