How to verify if WiFi Kit 32 is toast

Hello, I have a Wifi Kit 32 that was working fine with a rotary encoder that I ran through a 74HC14 and into pins 26 for pushbutton , 33 for Data, and 36 for Clock. The LCD displayed 0-100% depending on rotation. I moved everything from a breadboard to a perf-board and I have now lost the LCD display as well as the serial Display. When I check the signal at the corresponding pins with an oscilloscope they all are still getting the correct signal. The encoder and Schmidt trigger are getting 3.3v and the Wifi Kit 32 is plugged into the USB.

I have uploaded the factory demo and its not displaying either anymore. Is there a major reset or is it garbage?

You can check if there are some short circuits, or take off the Wifi Kit 32 to see if it works normally.

@shaffer , Thanks for the suggestions, I will check the board one more time. When I remove the unit from the headers on the breakout board it still behaves the same. It has uploaded the factory demo successfully but no display shows.

Here’s a few project pics.

this was before, and now nothing.

Is there any print information on the serial port?
