Heltec Wireless Tracker OTAA SF or TX

Hi, i am currently trying to connect the wireless tracker to nearby gateway. Unfortunately the nearest gateway is a few kilometres away. I am unable to connect to any gateway. I am using the default example for LoraWan

Not sure if i can :

  1. increase the tx power
  2. increase the spreading factor
  3. or modify the datarate so it can send further

if that’s okay, anyone can show me how to change those parameters?

below is the partial debug output from the wireless tracker

Debug Output :
08:10:20.082 -> RX on freq 923200000 Hz at DR 2

08:10:20.160 -> Event : Rx Timeout

08:10:20.724 -> TX on freq 923400000 Hz at DR 2

08:10:21.098 -> Event : Tx Done

08:10:26.074 -> RX on freq 923400000 Hz at DR 2

08:10:26.167 -> Event : Rx Timeout

08:10:27.088 -> RX on freq 923200000 Hz at DR 2

08:10:27.165 -> Event : Rx Timeout

08:10:27.714 -> TX on freq 923200000 Hz at DR 2

08:10:28.122 -> Event : Tx Done

08:10:33.098 -> RX on freq 923200000 Hz at DR 2

08:10:33.176 -> Event : Rx Timeout

08:10:34.097 -> RX on freq 923200000 Hz at DR 2

08:10:34.174 -> Event : Rx Timeout

08:10:34.721 -> TX on freq 923200000 Hz at DR 2

08:10:35.126 -> Event : Tx Done

08:10:40.109 -> RX on freq 923200000 Hz at DR 2

The power is the default maximum, and other values can be changed.

Thanks. Are you able to show me how to change spreading factor during OTAA? I heard SF can increase the distance.

I’d recommend checking out RadioLib which is much easier to use than the Heltec version.

Thank you. Do you have any tutorial to get started on this library?

There are some examples available in the folder examples/LoRaWAN...., that should get you there for now. Wiki is upcoming but likely to take a week or two.
