Hello new friends.
I am evaluating the Heltec HRI-4851 (or HRI-4851L) industrial LoRa RS485 device for an industrial monitoring project.
I need to connect two 4-20mA industrial sensors:
- VEGABAR 28 pressure transmitter (4-20mA output)
- PT100 temperature transmitter with 4-20mA output
My idea is to use an RS485 analog input module such as the ICP DAS M-7017C (or a similar 4-20mA to Modbus RS485 converter) connected to the HRI-4851/HRI-4851L through RS485.
Questions:
- Is the HRI-4851/HRI-4851L able to communicate directly with a Modbus RTU RS485 analog input module such as the M-7017C?
- Can the HRI-4851 read the Modbus registers from the M-7017C and transmit those values through LoRa to another Heltec LoRa node?
- Is there any example project or documentation showing Modbus RTU polling over RS485 and LoRa transmission?
- Which model is recommended for this application: HRI-4851 or HRI-4851L?
- Is there any limitation regarding polling speed or number of Modbus registers that can be transmitted over LoRa?
The goal is to build a long-range industrial monitoring system without using PLCs, transmitting pressure and temperature measurements from remote silos.
Thank you.
