Heltec MeshTower resets its configuration itself

I saw this yesterday, but I didn’t grasp everything on this list so I’m going to try this. Where is the R 23 resistor located? I can remove it as long as you’re OK with me doing it.

I found R23. Going to try to remove it. it’s under the NRF board. I’m taking it off today. I’ve been running it inside my house sort of one big lock up with a battery shut down error.! I tried to reply but it says I’m limited to 3 reply’s. I updated this post ****IMG_1202|375x500

great, please send me a picture of R23 position
thanks a lot

Look at the previous post for the pic. Anything new to try?

Hey, Thanks. I forgot to tell you, I tried last weekend, with fw 2.7.18, but nothing, the same issue. It worked until midnight when came low temperature outside and that it, lost the connection, the same problem. So, I saw the picture, did you tried to remove R23? If you did, what was the result?
Meanwhile I tried Thinknode M6 from Elecrow and it seems is very stable. Also, I’ll try to build mysef a node with Heltec T114 and Heltec V4. A friend of mine said V4 is the best with LoRa SX1262 chipset. Also, as a advise, come from communities of LoRa, saying that LR1121 chipset is the future, gen 3 of this kind of devices.

Thanks a lot,
George

V4, if you look at the forum posts is still work in progress - if you want to use it, you’ll need to be really really good at debugging.

As for the LR1121, it’s been well superseded by more advanced variations of the LR range, so, well, what can I say?

If you want a good solid LoRa radio, the SX1262 is the latest. If you want extra functionality of varying usefulness then there are many possibilities in the LR range for you to explore.

Many thanks for info, it make sense.
I’m using SC1262, that why I’m checking on LR chipset, I’ll use your advise to check on LR range, except 1121.
King regards,
George

I did. When it was running on solar, it would charge in but constantly was getting battery at 3% messages every half second around dusk. I disconnected the solar panel, ran it inside and it’s not crashing. Also, I finally was able to get the 5 battery charge lights out of 6. I think I’m going to put the resistor back on and install MeshCore with the 9 min watchdog. I’m just going to use it as a plugged in router at my mom’s house. There’s not much else I can do. I’m definitely not putting on my roof till something gets replaced.

Thanks a lot. I hope the Heltec will solve this problem on the next version of MeshTower. They should, taking into consideration the price, is not a cheap node. I discussed with them that issue and they said something about that. Anyway, until then I think I’ll built a new node with T-Beam 1W, it seems is back in stock on LILYGO web site. See you :slightly_smiling_face:

Please let me know if the solution with meshcore firmware worked good for Heltec Solar MeshTower I’ll use it here, because we are testing also meshcore.
Now we are testing meshtastic with Custom instead of LongFast, with Narrow (469.341Mhz/62Khz 7 7).

sorry, the frecv is 469.431 MHz

I erased the firmware and now it will not let me load the updated firmware, What is the procedure nneded to get it to see the device to load the new firmware,Im very disgusted with the Meshtower, I purchased 2 and neither of them work and Heltec has not offered replacement boards, We have200+ nodes were planning to purchase to deploy and if this is the problems and support that Heltec provides , We will be looking at other manufactures that support their products , I’ve followed the steps provided and now it doesn’t
see the device to load new firmware.

I’m very upset about MeshTower, but this is it, we have to move on. I’ll try(I hope I have time for that) to record the exact procedure and I’ll put on youtube and I’ll send the link. In fact the problem is bigger. Also, the SX1262 chipset it has a lot of issues. We tested in our community(also, myself) Heltec V4 with a bigger antenna: 1.3(10dBi) and 1.5m(12dBi) and it seems the SX1262, RX it going to zero, nothing received, only nodes no far than 10 meter from the node. We tested V4 because of his Tx power(30dbm-1W). And by the way v4 is not proper for solar nodes, based on out tests. It worked, but too much issues. V4 work well with 5V USB-C only.
Now I’ll tested the same node with 1.3 meter antenna using SenseCAP Solar Node P1-Pro and after that with an Elecrow Thinknode M6. All of them, including Heltec has SX1262 Lora chipset. We should see if the problem persist on all of them for higher gain antenna.
Anyway, our community debate these days for going to the next step, next generation of LoRa, the LR1121 chipset. It seems LR1121 has less problems than 1262.

Which problems exactly? Documented where?

And where are you going to find a SIP for a LR1121?

If there were real problems with the SX126x range, why would there be so many people using it - including Murata & STM?
